Family Service, Inc.
Why We Matter

Making ends meet In Yellowstone County can be challenging, especially for parents earning the minimum wage – and families facing an unexpected financial crisis. Click here for a cost of living chart.

With your help, Family Service, Inc. offers the following programs to prevent hunger, homelessness and hopelessness in our community:

Emergency Food Boxes
We distribute over 1 million pounds of food annually to individuals and partner organizations – alleviating hunger throughout Yellowstone County.

Clothing Distribution
We give away 16,000 to 18,000 items of clothing monthly – preserving dignity for children and adults through every season and life event.

When families in financial crisis have access to food and clothing through Family Service, they can direct their limited financial resources to rent and utilities. Otherwise, many could become homeless.

Rent/Mortgage & Utility Assistance
We provide more than $100,000 in rent/mortgage and utility assistance annually to qualifying families – preventing homelessness in a community where few shelter options are available – and ensuring that families have water, electricity and gas to survive Montana’s extreme climate.

School Supplies
Studies show that kids who are unprepared on the first day of school feel out of place and often have difficulty in school. Our Back to School program equips more than 1,000 children from low-income families with new backpacks and school supplies. This initiative promotes self-confidence and academic success.

Holiday Meals and Gifts
Every year, hundreds of families in need receive special holiday meals and Christmas gifts for their children.

Family Service also provides emergency prescription assistance, vision care assistance and diabetic supplies.

Your contributions feed hungry families and prevent homelessness in our community. Thank you for helping your neighbors in need!
