Family Service, Inc.
Adopt a Family Overview

During the holiday months of November and December, Family Service offers a program interwoven with community participants called ‘Adopt a Family’. About 1,400 of the families we’ve helped this year have had especially difficult circumstances and are asking for a little extra help. Most want to be able to have their child wake up on Christmas with a gift under the tree. We go a step further and ask that they be provided with a holiday meal as well to bring happiness to the whole family. Family Service relies greatly on community involvement and generosity to make this happen.

The concept is simple: People who want to help spread some holiday cheer can assist a family who would otherwise go without …Putting it simply, Family Service facilitates matching families in need with those who want to help.

How the program works: Family Service works with low income persons requesting help so they understand what is needed. Individuals, businesses, friends and families wishing to supply holiday help register as helpers and then receive information about a family in need (a first name, number of family members, types of things needed, etc.) Those who are HELPING gather supplies, and when completed, those gift and supplies are dropped off at Family Service. We make sure it gets to the identified family in need, allowing them to remain anonymous.
